Investigations by The Nairobian revealed that unlike in the past where they could go home without a single cent, business is now booming.
A spot-check at a popular brothel on Luthuli Avenue revealed clients streaming in from mid-morning to evening.
Further, the prices have shot as the sex workers take advantage of the ‘peak season’.
On average, sex workers operating from Moi Avenue to Uhuru Highway charge Sh500 and above, while in downtown, the fee does not go below Sh350 during the cold season.

“We cannot complain. Business has been good thanks to the cold season. Most of our customers begin to trickle in from mid-morning and others check in during lunch breaks, while the rest troop in from 5pm up to morning,” Judy, a prostitute told The Nairobian.
Judy claimed that money has been flowing and in a good night, one can go home with close to Sh5,000.
“Since the cold month set in, we have never lacked customers. The demand is too high. This month alone, I can count the number of days I have gone home with between Sh3,000 and Sh5,000,” she said.
“Compared to other months, this has been a good month. I had to cut short my Mara trip. Last year, I made more than Sh50,000. In Mara, business was not as good as we had expected. The local authorities told the visitors to be cautious of us,” Judy, a city prostitute said.
