Raila has committed to acknowledging Ruto as President should the negotiations at Bomas of Kenya prove successful. He clarified that the effort to audit the previous presidential election was not intended to invalidate Kenya Kwanza’s victory but rather to enhance transparency and the trustworthiness of upcoming elections.

“We are striving for improved future elections, not pursuing an audit to challenge the existing government,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, the opposition leader accused certain foreign diplomats of meddling in the country’s affairs and attempting to influence the elections. He pointed out their continued interference in Kenya’s internal matters.

“You saw that Bomas during the presidential vote tallying, they are the ones who pushed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to announce their candidate. They also had a hand at the Supreme Court when we challenged the elections,” said the former Prime Minister.

“We now want to know the truth about the results of the presidential election so that we close that chapter and move on.”

The opposition leader claimed that because of such intervention by outside parties, coups have been taking place all throughout Africa, from Mali to Niger, Burkina Faso, and Gabon. “Election-related issues have given foreigners control over Africa’s problems,” he claimed.

Moreover, during an interview with The Standard and KTN on Wednesday, Raila asserted that the Kenya Kwanza government was deeply entrenched in corruption, and the problem was deteriorating. He stated, “The government shows little enthusiasm for combating corruption because it is, in fact, a result of it. They have made corruption an institutionalized practice.”
