The Kenyan Government has today broken silence with a powerful statement targeting all civil servants inhabiting varied local and regional destinations.

Addressing via the Ministry of Treasury Cabinet Secretary Prof Njuguna Ndung’u today the 27th day of March 2024, the Kenyan Government has intimated that intimated that civil servants will no longer be accessing pension and other retirement benefits before reaching the age of 65 years.

The Kenya Government has intimated that it has institutionalized policy guidelines and regulatory frameworks for retirement schemes in a strategic move fostered towards preventing civil servants from accessing their respective retirement benefits before turning the aforementioned age.

In addition, the Kenyan Government has intimated that it is also working on institutionalizing a savings scheme for those Kenyan citizens working in the expansive informal sector.

“The government is also seeking to create regulations that will prevent Kenyans from receiving retirement benefits prior to turning 65. Furthermore, retirement savings and benefits are going to be implemented for people who work in the unorganized sector,” Ministry of Treasury CS Prof. Njuguna stated.
