Nairobi was thrown into chaos yesterday as angry Gen Z protesters clashed with police, resulting in the burning of a police station. What started as a peaceful demonstration quickly escalated into running battles, with the youth overpowering law enforcement officers in a dramatic turn of events.

The protests, fueled by frustrations over unemployment, high cost of living, and alleged police brutality, saw hundreds of young people take to the streets, chanting slogans and demanding accountability from the government. However, tensions flared when officers attempted to disperse the crowd using tear gas and rubber bullets, leading to fierce resistance from the protesters.

In an unprecedented move, the defiant youth chased away police officers, forcing them to flee as they overran the station. Videos circulating online showed a group of protesters setting parts of the facility ablaze while others cheered. The destruction sent shockwaves across the country, with many questioning how the situation spiraled out of control.

Government officials have condemned the violence, calling for calm and dialogue. “We understand the frustrations of our young people, but destruction of property and attacks on police will not solve our problems,” a government spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, human rights activists argue that the incident reflects deep-seated anger and years of neglect by the leadership. “This is a warning sign. If the government doesn’t address the grievances of the youth, things could get worse,” one activist remarked.

As authorities assess the damage and restore order, Nairobi residents remain on edge, fearing further unrest. The incident has sent a clear message—Kenya’s Gen Z is no longer afraid to challenge authority, and the government must act swiftly to address their concerns.
