After Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi claimed that Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta was the actual leader of the Jubilee Party on May 3, the National Assembly experienced chaotic scenes.

Wandayi reaffirmed that Uhuru was in command of the party, which ruled until the general election in August 2022.

He emphasised that no one would succeed Uhuru in that position since the correct procedures had not been taken to remove him from it.

Wandayi said, “The only thing I know is that His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta is the official head of the Jubilee Party, which is a subsidiary of Azimio la Umoja.

When Eldas Member of Parliament Adan Keynan stood on a point of order and proclaimed Nominated MP Sabina Chege as the true leader of the Jubilee Party, the raucous jeers that had been erupting following Wanadyi’s statement quickly became more strident.

Mr. Speaker, is it appropriate for Hon. Wandayi to deceive this House into believing that Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta is the Party Leader of Jubilee when we are aware that we have made a decision and that our Party Leader is Hon. Sabina Chege? Keynan enquired.

The members of parliament who were supporting Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja got into a heated argument after that.

Moses Wetangula, the speaker of the National Assembly, was had to get to his feet in an effort to stop the MPs from shouting at one another.

The confusion persisted, so Speaker Wetangula made the decision to expel Samuel Atandi, an Alego Usonga member of parliament, for disobeying his orders.

Speaker Moses Wetangula, who had earlier warned the Legislators of serious consequences, expelled Atandi as the first MP from the rooms.

On Thursday, April 6, Azimio la Umoja decided to remove Sabina Chege as its Minority Whip in the National Assembly after receiving her nomination.

The Parliamentary Group Meeting, which was held in Machakos County, was when it was decided to fire Sabina.
