In a revealing interview with Dr. Ofweneke, Robert Burale opened up about misconceptions surrounding his faith, friendships, and life struggles.
Known for his preference for black attire while preaching, Burale shared that he was once labeled an “Illuminati pastor” simply for his color choice.
Recalling an invitation to a church event, he said, “Somebody called me an Illuminati pastor because I preach in black… They were like, ‘We are inviting a very high-level Satanist.’”
He noted that his all-black look even fueled more rumors when he went live on Facebook from the event.
Burale offered advice on friendships, drawing wisdom from his father’s saying: “Be friendly with everybody but don’t be friends with everybody.”
He explained his view that people need four categories of friends:
- Parking Lot Friends: Casual friends for surface-level conversations.
- Sitting Room Friends: Friends who are close but only to a certain extent, with whom he avoids sharing personal issues.
- Kitchen Friends: Trustworthy friends who, like kitchen knives, won’t betray you.
- Bedroom Friends: The innermost circle, those who know one’s secrets and vulnerabilities.
Burale also reflected on how social media impacts today’s generation, seeing it as both a blessing and a curse.
Speaking candidly about his past, Burale admitted he once frequented strip clubs. He urged compassion and understanding for others facing similar challenges, advising, “Don’t come on a high horse… Tell them you understand what they are going through and that there is a way out.”
Finally, Burale shared his experiences with rejection from certain pulpits due to his divorce and firm stance against homosexuality, emphasizing the personal costs that can come with unwavering beliefs.
