Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are currently intensifying their efforts to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding the tragic death of 19- year- old Joan Mbula Nzomo in Kasarani. The distressing incident occurred on Saturday, March 2, when Joan’ s lifeless body was discovered on the ground floor of an apartment located within Thome estate, presenting investigators with a perplexing puzzle.
According to reports, Joan had spent the entire previous night partying with Lawrence Gitonga, a man she was seen with at an entertainment venue along Mirema Drive. Surveillance footage obtained from Citizen TV revealed that the pair entered an Airbnb unit at White House apartments around 3 am. However, a few hours later, tragedy struck as Joan was found dead, purportedly after falling from the 10th floor of the apartment. Gitonga, on the other hand, was discovered unconscious and confined within the room they had occupied.
Gitonga suffered from eight stab wounds to his chest and back, resulting in severe bleeding, which he claimed were inflicted by Joan. In an attempt to shed light on the perplexing circumstances, investigators are now actively searching for three individuals who were in contact with Gitonga and Joan on the fateful day.
The DCI’ s investigative team is also scheduled to visit the entertainment venues frequented by the duo prior to retiring to the Airbnb unit. Their objective is to gather evidence and ascertain whether Joan’ s fall was a result of foul play, an attempt to escape, or a tragic act of self- harm.
