THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE has provided Kshs 40 billion shillings to various government departments, in order to achieve the functioning of the government.
The funds are distributed as follows:
1.Education.
The Department of Primary Education has received Sh1.6 billion to fund free education in primary schools, while another Sh14.1 billion will be used for free secondary education in day schools. Another amount of Sh6.1 billion has been allocated to the Department of Basic Secondary Education.
The Higher Education Funding Board (Helb) and the Universities Fund Board have allocated Sh5.1 billion and Sh2.8 billion, respectively.
2.Roads Department.
The Road Department has been given KShs 2 billion shillings.
3.Irrigation Department has been given Sh2.6 billion. In agriculture, the Crops and Cereals Board (NCPB) will receive Sh2 billion to pay debts for cheap fertilizers in the Financial Year 2023|2024 when there were few and heavy rains.
4.The Milk Corporation (KCC), has received Sh800 million in the Department of Corporations.
5.Hustler Fund Department.
The fund aimed at raising small businesses, which was created by President William Ruto when he assumed leadership in 2022, known as the Hustler Fund, has been increased by Sh500 million to boost its operations.
6.KShs 1 billion shillings has been allocated to the Ministry of Industry to be used in the construction of Agricultural Crop Production Industries, popularly known as County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPS).
7.The Department of Investment has been allocated Sh600 million to benefit the processing activities of products to be exported.
