Archbishop Kitonga made the call during the Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens, which were attended by President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
He prayed for Odinga to retire peacefully and drop the issue of going to the streets. “We pray for Honourable Raila to retire peacefully, the time you have now is to enjoy your retirement,” he said. “He should rest. God has given President Ruto the job of leading the nation, we do not want disputes.”
Odinga, who is the leader of the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya movement, has been vocal in his criticism of the government’s handling of various issues, including corruption and human rights abuses.
