Billionaire Rai who has been the topic of discussion in the republic of Kenya for the last one week has been ordered by the court to pay ove shs 500 million.As reported by the kenyans.co.ke, the commercial court through justice Buteya has ordered Mr Rai to pay shs 507 million to Butali sugar company. Rai and his company was found guilty of interfering with the operations of Butali sugar company who which made them to record huge loses. Rai had sued Butali sugar company for setting up a factory just 24 kilometers from where his sugar company is located. His move made Butali company to get some loses.
“Accordingly, on the totality of the evidence on record, the plaintiff (Butali) has proved its case on a balance of probability. Judgment is entered for Butali against West Kenya Sugar Company for Ksh507 million. The company is entitled to indemnity against Kenya Sugar Board to the tune of 30 per cent on the damages,” read part of Mabeya’s ruling.
