Today in the evening, the goverment of Kenya has been handed a setback. This came in after reports emerged on a ruling that the high court has made concerning their rollout.

As reported by the Star News, the high court of this country has suspended the rollout of goverment Digital Identity Cards until further notice. On their ruling, the third powerful court said that this suspension is temporary and they will make a final decision in due course but it will be a big blow to goverment who have been keen to replace the current identity cards.

“The High Court has suspended any further rollout of the new digital identity cards popularly known as Maisha Namba. The suspension is pending the determination of a case filed by the Haki na Sheria Initiative.” Reads part of the report. These digital ID cards (Maisha Number) have expiry dates of 10 years. This means that after every one decade, every Kenyan citizen will have to renew his card.
