Tourism is the latest sector to face the negative impact of the weekly protests by Azimio leaders and supporters. Today, 30th of March, the Mombasa tourism authorities have indicated that the country has lost millions of shillings after a tourist ship shifted it’s docking destination from Mombasa to Tanzania.
The tourism authorities have indicated that the cruise ship’s directors noted that they shifted their destination from Kenya to Tanzania due to the political unrest being faced in the country.
The tourists were set to visit the country for three days. According to Mombasa tourism authorities, they have indicated that more than 800 tourists were aboard the cruise ship. The authorities have also noted that each tourist always spend an average of Ksh.20,000 per day which makes a total of Ksh.60,000 per tourist in the three days they were to spend in the country.
Meanwhile, apart from affecting the tourism sector, the government have indicated that the ongoing demonstrations have generally negativly affected the country’s economy.
