Azimio la Umoja coalition leaders, led by former Murang’a governor Mwangi wa Iria, has issued a stern warning to the Kenya Kwanza government, saying that they will not accept any outcome of the bipartisan talks that does not address their grievances. The coalition, which comprises of parties that supported Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential election, has accused the ruling party of rigging the polls and failing to deliver on its promises to the people.

The Azimio leaders said that they will not compromise on their demands for a constitutional review, a boundary delimitation exercise, and a fair share of national resources. They also said that they will mobilize their supporters to resist any attempts by the government to intimidate or harass them.

Mwangi wa Iria, who is the presidential flag bearer of the Usawa Kwa Wote party and the Azimio coalition, said that they are ready to secede from Kenya if the bipartisan talks fail to yield a satisfactory outcome. He said that they have a right to self-determination and that they will not tolerate any form of oppression or marginalization.

The bipartisan talks, which were initiated by President Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, are aimed at finding a lasting solution to the political and economic challenges facing the country. The talks are expected to officially kick off on Monday at the Bomas of Kenya.
