Azimio la Umoja coalition led by Raila Odinga on Monday addressed the nation ahead of a tough showdown in the National Assembly on Tuesday when the contentious Finance bill will be tabled on the floor of the House. The opposition was informing Kenyans why they are opposing the Finance Bill.

While addressing the press conference, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua hit out at the Kenya Kwanza administration accusing it of targeting the Mt Kenya region with its taxes. Martha Karua says that the proposed taxes are now targeting business people who are majorly from the Mt Kenya region.

“many of the tax measures contained in the Finance bill are unreasonable and clearly directed not only at the nation but particularly at Mt Kenya businesses.” read part of her statement.

Azimio further hit out at the Kenya Kwanza administration accusing them of profiling the Mt Kenya region with crime. They accused the government of associating the Mt Kenya youths with the resurgence of the Mungiki criminal gang. They urged the security forces led by NPS and NCIC to probe sentiments that were made by some leaders.

Azimio further accused the government of trying to take over the Jubilee party which enjoys big support in the Mt Kenya region. They said that by tsking the Jubilee party, Mt Kenya will have no party to fight off the anti-Mt Kenya policies which are made by the government.
