The bandits have not shown any signs of relenting in their defiance despite the continuing military effort. Following the episode at six o’clock, in which the thieves attacked an elderly man and repeatedly stole from him, the criminals have horrified a lot of people.

The individual, who was only known by his given name Kakuko, reportedly died there. The fact that they struck this morning and stole 209 animals after carrying out that heinous act on Tuesday at six o’clock in the evening is even more concerning.

Laikipia residents have reported being attacked during the daylight by people who are thought to be bandits. They alleged that the robbers broke into their homes and stole food, githeri, unga, and water. In the video that Citizen TV tweeted, the locals can be heard lamenting the fact that they had to leave their homes in order to defend themselves.

The locals are worried for their own personal safety and have expressed alarm over the deteriorating security situation. Many of them have packed up their belongings, moved into new homes elsewhere, and left their old ones behind.

According to reports, the bandits are using the current operation as a cover to attack defenseless locals, who are now fleeing in terror due to the situation. The leaders of the community have asked the government to increase security there in order to better safeguard the local residents.

While the government has battled to establish order in the area, the bandits have prospered with their business of robbing and killing the locals. The military has consequently chosen to employ force to establish peace.
