Arsenal lost ground in the Premier League title race after drawing 2-2 against Tottenham in the North London Derby on Sunday afternoon
Bukayo Saka celebrates scoring a goal during the Premier League match between Arsenal FC and Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal suffered a set back in their Premier League title challenge as they drew 2-2 against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon. The Gunners now sit four points behind Manchester City – but did maintain their unbeaten record as Bukayo Saka’s double was cancelled out by Son Heung-min’s brace.
Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard became the latest additions to Arsenal’s growing injury list. The England international was taken off with a back injury at half-time, whilst the Belgian forward was left out of the matchday squad after picking up a knock in training.
Arsenal now face a difficult run of fixtures moving into October with Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle United on the horizon. With that being said, football.london has taken a look at the upcoming Premier League fixtures for the north Londoners compared to their closest rivals.
Bournemouth (A) – Saturday, September 30
Arsenal close out the month of September by facing Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. The Cherries continue to adapt their identity after parting ways with Gary O’Neill for Andoni Iraola which will certainly mean a tough encounter is on the horizon.
Dominic Solanke represents a key threat to the Gunners and they will need to keep him quiet if they are to take all three points on the road.
Manchester City (H) – Sunday, October 8
A huge clash to start October awaits for the Gunners. The two title rivals from last season face each other for the first time since the FA Community Shield. Arsenal got the better of City at Wembley ahead of the 2023/24 campaign and Mikel Arteta will hope his side can beat the reigning champions for a second time in the space of a few months.
Chelsea (A) – Saturday, October 21
Arsenal then travel to Stamford Bridge to battle against London rivals Chelsea, who they did the double over last season, winning 1-0 away and 3-1 at home. But the Blues have strengthened heavily since then, adding the likes of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo to their midfield ranks whilst Mauricio Pochettino is now in the managerial hot-seat.
Sheffield United (H) – Saturday, October 28
The Gunners welcome Premier League new boys Sheffield United to the Emirates Stadium after a London derby against Chelsea. The Blades are yet to win a game so far this season and were on the end of an 8-0 drubbing against Newcastle most recently. Arsenal come into this game as heavy favourites but they will need to be at their best to take all three points.
Newcastle United (A) – Saturday, November 4
One of the most tricky fixtures in the Premier League awaits Arsenal at the start of November. A trip to St. James’ Park is always a difficult place to go as the away side and the Gunners will be hoping they can pick up a crucial three points against Eddie Howe’s side.
