During the inauguration of President William Ruto, Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua rose to the podium and did the unthinkable.
Before visiting heads of state and high-level diplomats, Gachagua, without shame, insulted President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He told the whole world how Uhuru was incompetent and corrupt and how he had left the coffers dry. He embarrassed Uhuru and put him to shame.
He crossed the line. He took it too personally. He thought he had achieved it all. He did not know.
Today, he has tried looking for Uhuru Kenyatta to no avail. Not even a photo with Uhuru, Uhuru Kenyatta continues to treat Gachagua as a non-entity, a mistake in Kenyan politics.
Ruto, who sent Gachagua to attack Uhuru, is now seeing Uhuru without any restrictions whatsoevrler.
I know there are no permanent enemies in politics, but Gachagua went too far. He crossed the red line. Rigathi Gachagua will do good to remember that your boss deserves respect whether you like it or not.

Ruto understands the threat Uhuru Kenyatta poses in his re-election bid.
Uhuru’s silence in the face of persecution from KK government elevated him to a very different level. By refusing to engage this regime in petty fights he denied them the attention thereby holding his power over them.
For Ruto to visit Uhuru it shows Uhuru holds all the cards, he is not looking for Ruto, he is the one being sought after. Uhuru appears to be more important than Ruto.
Ruto understands that Gachagua is building momentum and an endorsement from Uhuru would propel him to greater heights, he is here to make sure that does not happen.
Ruto is now learning that oligarchs are not threatened, they are managed. His chest thumping and insults to Uhuru has done him more harm than good.
