The DCI has made a claim that the man of God, Apostle Blessed Gilbert Kariuki, vanished on the critical day when he was scheduled to deliver chairs to the church. However, there is no evidence to support this assertion. On Tuesday, May 30, the DCI released a statement stating that Mr. Kariuki has been apprehended by the police for allegedly defrauding the ACK Mwea Town Church of more than two million Kenyan shillings. The funds were intended for the purchase of church seats.
According to the statement, the church leadership entered into a contract with Apostle Blessed Gilbert Kariuki and his spouse on February 9, 2023. The contract stipulated that they were required to supply 410 seats to the church by April 10, 2023. However, the ‘ Man of God’ neither delivered the chairs nor showed up as expected. Based on statements made by the congregants of the church at the Wang’ uru Police station, it was alleged that the man of the cloth absconded with their money before disappearing.
As all attempts to contact him proved futile, the vicar of the church felt compelled to submit a formal complaint to the authorities. . On Monday, May 29, Mr. Kariuki appeared before the law courts in Wanguru to answer to charges of collecting money by false pretenses. He was arraigned on these counts. The situation raises serious concerns about the trust and integrity of individuals in positions of religious authority. Allegations of fraud within religious institutions can have a significant impact on the faith and confidence of congregants. It is imperative that such cases are thoroughly investigated, and appropriate legal action is taken to ensure justice is served.
As the legal proceedings unfold, it is important for the justice system to consider all available evidence and ensure a fair trial. It is only through a comprehensive and unbiased investigation that the truth behind these allegations can be revealed. The congregation of the ACK Mwea Town Church deserves answers and justice for their financial loss. This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder for all individuals to exercise caution when dealing with financial transactions involving religious figures or institutions. Congregants should be vigilant in ensuring transparency and accountability in financial matters within their respective religious communities.
