On Friday, April 14, President William Ruto said that his team had fired a contractor working on a water project in Machakos County.
According to Ruto, the contractor was chosen especially to complete a water project in the Mwala Constituency. However, since the contractor failed to deliver, his administration was compelled to evict him before the project was finished.
The Head of State defended his choice by claiming that the unnamed contractor was uncooperative and didn’t live up to the standards set by his administration.
Ruto gave people the reassurance that his administration was close to hiring a different contractor to complete the project.
“We have a Ksh 500 million water project in Mwala. A contractor has been uncooperative, and we have driven him away. We are starting it in every county and looking for another contractor.” Ruto said.
During the Mavoko Water Supply Project’s commissioning, Ruto made the comments. The initiative, according to the president, will provide 20,000 houses with access to clean and safe water, helping 500,000 people in the Mavoko Township, Athi River, Mlolongo, and Syokimau areas.
The Head of State further stated that the project would give locals 300 job possibilities.
Ruto had previously severed connections with other contractors. On Friday, March 24, the Head of State sacked a contractor while he was still in Kisii who had been working on an unfinished project for more than eight years.
Ruto instructed Kipchumba Murkomen, the secretary of the transport ministry, to hire a different contractor for the road project.
