Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua, a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Deputy President of Kenya since 2022 under President William Ruto’s KK Government, finds himself at the epicentre of a political storm as calls for transparency and integrity reverberate through Kenya’s tumultuous political landscape.

Mr Peter Muchendu, a renowned governance expert and political analyst, has sounded the alarm, declaring, “We must stop the politics of deceit, where you use a community as a shield to advance your agenda.”

This statement strikes at the heart of Gachagua’s recent controversies, highlighting the dangerous trend of exploiting communities for personal gain.

Muchendu asserts that the “biggest mistake” Gachagua committed was his gross mishandling of the MPsā€”individuals who wield significant power and influence within the National Assembly.

This blunder is particularly egregious given that the impeachment motion against him hinged on the very MPs whose grievances he failed to address.

As tensions rise and personal vendettas bubble to the surface, Gachagua’s political future hangs precariously in the balance.

His missteps serve as a stark reminder that in politics, the price of deception can be extraordinarily high. It is imperative that our leaders rise above petty squabbles and engage in genuine dialogue; only then can we hope to safeguard our democratic values.
