On Wednesday, operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) came to a standstill as flights were delayed and some canceled due to a workers’ strike.

The strike, initiated at JKIA, soon spread to Moi International Airport, Kisumu International Airport, and Eldoret International Airport.

Aviation sector workers were demanding transparency regarding a deal between the Kenyan government and Indian conglomerate Adani for an upgrade at JKIA.

Passengers were left stranded for hours, expressing their frustration and disappointment.

Among them was a white man who humorously feared his marriage was at risk due to the delays, claiming his wife might divorce him by the time he reached Kisumu.

A female passenger, who was heading back to the Netherlands for a funeral, described the chaotic scenes at the airport, with hundreds of people gathered outside before finally being allowed in.

Additionally, the Zimbabwe menā€™s football team found themselves stranded at the airport following their African Cup of Nations qualifier in Uganda.

The strike severely disrupted airport operations, leaving many passengers uncertain about their travel plans.
