All Cabinet nominees will undergo vetting including those who President William Ruto retained in the fresh nominations unveiled on Friday last week.
This is according to a communication to the National Assembly by Speaker Moses Wetangula regarding the new cabinet nominees.
Addressing the House Tuesday afternoon, the Speaker communicated to the House the names of 10 nominees picked by the President for appointment to the Offices of Cabinet Secretary.

The list however featured a surprise change where President Ruto reassigned Aden Duale from the Defence Ministry to the Environment docket.

Soipan Tuya who had been nominated to the Environment Ministry, has been moved to the powerful Defence Ministry.

The name of the Rebecca Miano, who was nominated for the Attorney General post was also not on the list.

“In view of the foregoing and pursuant to the provisions of section 8 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, of 2011 as read together with Standing Order 42(3), I hereby refer the Message from the President, together with the curriculum vitae of the nominees to the Committee on Appointments.”

“Honourable Members, section 8 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, 2011 provides that, unless otherwise provided in law, the Committee to which such nomination is referred shall consider the matter and table a report in the House within twenty-eight (28) days. It is therefore imperative that the Committee on Appointments immediately commences the process of consideration of the nominees,” reads the communication from Wetangula.

The Committee on Appointments is expected to immediately commence the approval hearings within 28 days before tabling a report in the House for consideration.
