Ahmed Darwesh’s widow Hawa Hussein Jamadar has lost property worth millions of shillings after armed robbers broke into her house in Kitengela.
Hawa is reported to have lost property worth Sh3million last Saturday after thugs broke into her house and carried away home appliances, carpets, sandals, phones and other valuable items.
The mother of three — one boy and two girls, was also beaten by a machete as the robbers tried squeezing valuable information from her.
She was glad, however, that the robbers didn’t rape her kids although she said one tried to force herself on her but something kept distracting him. She believes her prayers to Allah protected her.
Hawa said the robbery happened because there’s a misconception around the area that she has money while everything she has took years to establish.
“With the name, everybody thinks I’m very rich. They always say that I’m very rich. And I really hustle, they don’t know. It’s just that I always put a brave face outside there,” she said.
The attack comes three years after she lost her husband. Darwesh left her a hotel business in South B but because of surging rent, she was forced to move to Kitengela.
She also had an accident while driving her late husband’s car leaving it written off.
Hawa admitted that it has not been easy raising three children single-handedly.

“I told my mum yesterday that if it weren’t for my children, I wish I could just sleep and never wake up. But when I look at them, they get me going,” she told local news site.
The widow, who has two Master’s degree to her name, runs two hotels and a shop to keep her family and another 130 orphans she supports going. She believes all she’s going through is a test from God.
“God has given me an exam; He loves me and He wants me to be closer to him all the time. My children always ask, ‘Why is it happening to us?’ I tell them, ‘Allah loves us,” said Hawa.
