The Luo Council of Elders Chairman, Ker Odungi Randa, is grappling with a profound double tragedy that has befallen his family.

The sorrow began with the demise of his second-born son, Stephen Milton Obote Randa, on December 25, 2023, sending shockwaves through their community.

Stephen, aged 42, reportedly succumbed to poisoning and was rushed to Ahero Sub County Hospital, where his battle for life ended tragically.

The mourning period reached its peak on January 2, 2024, as the family laid him to rest, bidding a tearful farewell to a cherished member.

The emotional turmoil didn’t cease there, as fate dealt another cruel blow to the Randa family. On the very same day as Stephen’s burial, tragedy struck again when Ker Odungi Randa’s third-born son, Victor Randa, was involved in a harrowing road accident near Boya Police Station. The incident unfolded mere hours after the somber funeral procession.

Victor’s car was left mangled after the accident, prompting an urgent rush to Ahero Sub-County Hospital for immediate medical attention.

Subsequently, he was transferred to The Jaramogi Odinga Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) for further treatment.

The young Randa now faces an arduous journey to recovery, adding a layer of anxiety to an already grieving family.

The untimely demise of Stephen, followed by Victor’s life-threatening accident, casts a shadow over the recent inauguration of Ker Odungi Randa as the ninth chairman of the Luo Council of Elders.

The family’s resilience is being tested in the face of these successive adversities, with the community rallying around to provide support during these trying times.

As the Randa family navigates through this tumultuous period, the community at large mourns alongside them, underscoring the fragility of life and the unpredictable nature of fate.
