The truck driver’s body was discovered hanging inside the cargo compartment of his abandoned vehicles on Monday in Makueni County, not far from Malili town.

The man whose identity has not yet been revealed—was moving a huge consignment of iron sheets from Mombasa to Nairobi.

The truck was discovered empty, and the sheets, which were allegedly worth millions of shillings, were gone, according to police reports.

Near Mangu town, the driver picked up two unidentified passengers, and investigators believe that’s when he was killed. These people are thought to have been engaged in both the murder and the heist.

The way the driver passed away has given the case an odd twist. He was discovered hanging within the vacant cargo hold, an accomplishment that seemed unachievable given the restricted area.

Investigators have started a manhunt for the two suspects while they look into the event. They are making a public plea for any information that can help identify and apprehend the people responsible.

Malili locals and those in the neighborhood have voiced shock and indignation at the incident. They are requesting that the government strengthen security measures along the heavily used Mombasa-Nairobi highway, especially in locations where criminal activity is known to occur.
