AFCON 2027: Four Stadiums in Kenya That Will Host Matches - Kenyans Living It

The Confederations of African Football (CAF) has made a historic announcement with the news that three East African nations have won their bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will jointly host the continental showpiece in what will be the first time ever that the tournament will be held in East Africa.

In a statement on Wednesday, CAF President Patrice Motsepe said, ” The 2027 edition will be special, the commitment and drive shown by the three Presidents from the host nations proves jus how eager they are for their countries to host the event.”

As a result of the bid win, the Kenyan Government has swiftly started preparations for the same. In a statement sent to newsrooms, the Ministry of Youths affairs, The Arts and Sports has announced that three stadiums will be handed over to the military for refurbishments and development.

The four stadiums are the Kasarani National Stadium in Nairobi, Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, Talanta Sports Stadium at Jamhuri grounds and the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret.

Kenya has previously won bids to host the African Cup Of Nations tournament in 1996 as well as the 2018 CHAN Championships but were stripped of the role on both occasions due to the venues not being ready.
