Award-winning digital content creator and actress Foi Wambui has clarified the story behind her recent engagement posts that went viral.

Through her Instagram stories, Foi revealed that while she did accept a marriage proposal, it was staged as part of a project she was working on.

“Guys! Thank you so much for all the congratulatory messages. You’re all so sweet,” the Shanga lead actress said with playful enthusiasm, pretending to blush.

“I finally said yes! I’m just happy to share this moment with you all,” she added, clapping her hands before breaking the news. “But guys, it was all for a video. Yes, he went down on one knee and said beautiful things, but it was part of the project.”

She captioned the post, reassuring fans, “Msijali (don’t worry), we are still together.” Foi explained that she was venturing into different areas of entertainment, including writing, directing, and producing.

“Always in my acting element, but I’m loving this new phase of exploring my creative side. This might be my favorite project so far. Please watch the video,” she concluded.

On Thursday, Foi released the much-anticipated video, which revealed that the engagement scene was part of an ad for an upcoming event.

Foi previously dated musician Charisma, known for the hit Sina Noma, before their split earlier this year. The couple had maintained a low-profile relationship for two years.

In a recent interview, Charisma reflected on the challenges and advantages of dating someone in the entertainment industry. He acknowledged that while public attention could sometimes be overwhelming, having a partner who understands the pressures of the spotlight made things easier.

“I’ve been in relationships with people in the industry, and while the attention from fans could be unsettling, it’s easier to manage when both partners understand the nature of the job,” he shared during his appearance on the Financially Incorrect podcast.

Charisma added that separating personal lives from professional roles was crucial, particularly when his partner’s acting gigs required challenging roles or interactions.
