The Kikuyu community is in deep mourning following the sudden and untimely death of Brian Mburu Kihara son of the legendary benga musician Musaimo wa Njeri. Brian is reported to have passed away after a short illness leaving family, friends and fans devastated.
Musaimo wa Njeri whose real name is Simon Kihara Macharia is a household name in Kikuyu music known for classics like My Dear Kwaheri and Kanyenya-Ini. His music has transcended generations making this loss not just a family tragedy but a moment of sorrow for the broader cultural community.
Brian, though not widely known in the public eye was seen as part of the next generation of a family deeply woven into the fabric of Kikuyu music history. The sudden nature of his death has left many in shock.
