Arsenal have moved into advanced discussions with RB Leipzig as they look to land Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško ahead of the new campaign. The 21-year-old is a high-priority target for Mikel Arteta, who is determined to add firepower to his frontline this summer.
Šeško has been on Arsenal’s radar for more than a year, and his standout season in Germany—where he scored 21 goals in 45 games—has only strengthened the club’s interest. Known for his pace, strength, and sharp finishing, the young forward fits the profile of a long-term solution at centre-forward for the Gunners.
Leipzig have reportedly made it clear to Šeško that he can leave if the right offer arrives. While the Bundesliga club has placed an £85 million valuation on him, Arsenal are hopeful of negotiating a lower fee—potentially around £60 million—by offering flexible payment terms.
Rival interest from Manchester United could complicate Arsenal’s pursuit. The Red Devils have been monitoring Šeško closely, with recruitment lead Christopher Vivell attending games earlier this year to assess the player firsthand. However, Arsenal are confident that their project and style of play could be decisive factors in the striker’s decision.
Should a deal for Šeško prove too complex or costly, Arsenal are also considering Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres as a viable alternative. Arteta and the recruitment team are weighing all options to ensure the club adds a clinical edge to a squad that came close to winning the Premier League last season.
Talks are set to continue over the coming weeks, with Arsenal eager to conclude negotiations swiftly to integrate any new arrival into their pre-season plans.
