Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua raised alarm during a political rally in Thika, Kiambu County, claiming his life was in danger. Addressing a crowd of thousands, Gachagua accused a local chief of hiring goons to disrupt his meeting.

“Mnataka kunipiga mawe?” he asked emotionally, pointing fingers at what he described as a well-planned attack.

He alleged that the intimidation was not random but orchestrated from higher offices. According to Gachagua, President William Ruto is behind the plot to silence him politically.

“This is not just about me. It’s about suppressing the voice of truth,” Gachagua told supporters.

The rally, which drew large numbers from the surrounding areas, quickly turned tense as emotions ran high. Supporters chanted in solidarity while security teams moved in to maintain order.

Gachagua warned that such tactics would not stop him from speaking out. He vowed to continue engaging Kenyans despite threats to his safety.

His accusations have sparked fresh debate about political tolerance and the state of democracy in Kenya.

So far, the government has not officially responded to the claims. Meanwhile, Kiambu residents remain divided, with some supporting Gachagua’s stand and others dismissing it as political drama.
