Police have warned the defiant Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua and his allies against holding the much-hyped mega rally in Kakamega, terming it illegal and unapproved.
Western Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud said no formal notice of the event had been received, despite promotional material circulating widely on social media.

“This is not how we organize public gatherings. He must follow the law or face the consequences,” Mohamud stated.
The commander further warned that officers would not hesitate to disperse the gathering and arrest organizers if necessary.
“We are maintaining law and order. Gachagua has 72 hours to comply or stay away,” he added.
The warning follows a court ruling earlier this week granting anticipatory bail to DCP Deputy Leader Cleophas Malalah, after violent scenes marred a previous DCP event in Kakamega on May 24. Malalah, however, vowed to push forward with mobilization efforts, signaling a show of strength in the region.
Sources indicate that Gachagua is expected to make a surprise appearance alongside other top party officials.
