A disturbing video has surfaced showing a group of young criminals believed to be members of the notorious Mapangalee gang attacking and robbing an elderly man in the Coast region. The video, widely shared on social media, shows the gang pinning down the helpless old man, assaulting him, and forcefully taking his belongings.
The incident, which many have described as heartbreaking and shocking, has sparked public anger across the country. The attackers, armed with pangas (machetes), showed no mercy as they beat the elderly man, who appeared weak and unable to defend himself. He was left injured and in pain after the gang fled.
This act has been widely condemned by Kenyans online, with many calling for swift action against the gang. Members of the public have expressed frustration over the rising cases of such crimes in the region and are now calling on police officers to take firm action.
“This is pure robbery with violence. If our officers find such people, they should not hesitate. Let them clean up the society,” one angry resident wrote on social media.
Others have told human rights groups and oversight bodies like IPOA to stop interfering when security officers deal with such criminals, insisting that the safety of innocent people should come first.
