A video of Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi comforting the mother of departed priest Allois Cheruiyot has touched many people.
Allois, the beloved priest who loved ministering to people even in dangerous terrains, was shot dead just after having a jumuiya meeting with Catholic faithfuls in Elgeyo Marakwet county.
When residents heard of his death, they erupted in wailing and even staged a protest to demand justice for his death. Both the young who were energetic enough to walk and sprint first and the old, who could only wave their Bibles and walking sticks in protests came to mourn him.
Oscar Sudi went to the home of the slain priest, where he consoled the family following the death. “I joined Emgwen MP Josses Lelmengit at Cheplasgei, Kilibwoni Ward in Nandi County, to condole with the family of Catholic Priest Allois Cheruiyot Bett, who was slain by criminals,” Oscar Sudi said.
The lawmaker also added that, “Father was a steadfast peace advocate and devoted spiritual leader. Those behind the priest’s killings will surely be found and face the full wrath of the law.”
