Juja Member of Parliament, George Koimburi, was found unconscious on a farm near Kibichoi in the Githunguri constituency, only one day after he was abducted by individuals assumed to be police officers. This happened less than 48 hours after he had previously escaped from a similar dragnet.
The MP was seized on Sunday 25th during a church service while other church members were watching and forced into a Subaru vehicle. During this time, MP’s wife was also injured. According to those who were present, the MP’s wife sustained the injuries while trying to protect the husband. There was a struggle at the incident with the MP’s wife sustaining injuries as she attempted to intervene.
The reason why the MP was seized is still unclear, as the MP had not received any prior summons. Notably, this is not the first time that the MP has escaped. In February, barely three months ago, he fled from authorities outside the Kiambu Law Courts while speaking to the press with his lawyers. He had been charged with six counts, including having fake academic papers, an offence allegedly committed over 30 years ago.
