Aide De

He is best remembered for his time as an Aide-de-Camp to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom he served for almost five years.

After leaving the ADC role while in the rank of a Colonel, he quickly rose through the ranks to become a Lieutenant General and taking over as the Kenya Army commander.

Before that, Lt Gen ( Rtd ) Peter Mbogo Njiru served as the commandant, Joint Command and Staff College, Karen.

Previously, he served as the Kenya Military Academy, Lanet, commandant.

While in the rank of a Brigadier, he served as the commandant, Recruits Training School, Eldoret. That was his first assignment after leaving the ADC role.

The retired Kenya Army General was commissioned as second lieutenant in 1986 and posted to the Artillery Brigade.

In 2024, after a stellar military career spanning almost four decades, Lt Gen Njiru bowed out of the KDF. He was succeeded by Lt Gen. David Tarus as the new Kenya Army commander. And from there, he took a new career path with a tough assignment as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Pakistan.

A holder of a Masters degree in war from the prestigious Kings College London, the retired General is the engine running the diplomatic relations between Kenya and the Asian nation.
