He is the senior most non-commisioned officer in the Kenya Army. With military career spanning almost four decades, Warrant Officer Class One ( WO1 ) Joel Murage is a very powerful figure at the Kenya Army headquarters.
As the Kenya Army Sergeant Major, he ensures discipline among the troops while also giving them morale.
Besides that, WO1 Murage is a link between the soldiers and the Kenya Army commander, Lt Gen. David Tarus.
Enlisted into the military in 1988, WO1 Murage would later undergo training at the Recruits Training School before being posted to the 3rd Battalion, Kenya Rifles.
In 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer Class One and appointed Qualified Master Senior Instructor at the Defence Intelligence Academy.
At one point, he served as Regimental Sergeant Major at the Field Intelligence Battalion. Prior to his appointment as the Kenya Army Sergeant Major, WO1 Murage served the Eastern Command Sergeant Major at Embakasi Garrison.
At 59 years, the powerful soldier is at the twilight years of his stellar military career.
