Detectives are now revealing shocking details about the murder of Kasipul Member of Parliament (MP) Charles Ong’ondo Were.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), people very close to the MP may have been part of the deadly plan that led to his death.

The MP was shot dead on April 30, 2025, near City Mortuary in Nairobi. At first, many believed it was a normal criminal attack.

But now, new information shows it might have been planned by people he trusted.

Detectives have arrested ten suspects so far. These include the MP’s bodyguard, his driver, a neighbor, and a businessman from the area.

Phone records show that the MP’s driver and bodyguard made calls to the suspected killers just hours before the murder.

Some of these calls lasted over a minute. Investigators also found out that contact between the suspects started two days before the shooting.

Police say the suspects used both mobile calls and money transactions to plan the murder.

During raids in Nairobi and Nakuru, police recovered two pistols, nine bullets, mobile phones, SIM cards, and about $4,800 in cash.

Forensic experts are now checking if the bullets found in the MP’s body match those recovered from the guns.

CCTV footage also shows the suspects following the MP from Parliament before switching to a motorcycle to carry out the final part of the attack.

Detectives believe that the bodyguard and driver may have shared details about the MP’s movements with the killers.

One of the suspects is a businessman who is said to be interested in contesting the Kasipul seat in 2027.

The DCI believes he not only threatened the MP in the past but also helped pay for the killing through secret meetings and money transfers.

The case has shocked many Kenyans, especially because it shows how betrayal can come from those closest to someone.
