Renowned Kenyan DJ and media personality Pierra Makena recently opened up about a distressing period when rumours spread that gospel DJ DJ Mo was the father of her daughter. Speaking during an interview with TV47, the single mother of one recounted the emotional turmoil she faced, especially because Mo is married to her friend, gospel singer Size 8.

I thought to myself, ‘Where are you, DJ Mo?’ as I glanced at the child. I had the same thought. To be honest, I thought the child and Mo looked alike. According to TUKO.co.ke, she stated, “I would have claimed it was his baby if Mo and I had ever been involved.”

Makena underlined that the accusations were unfounded, even though others claimed to perceive a strong likeness between DJ Mo and her daughter, Ricca Pokot. She clarified that while she and Mo both dismissed the allegations with laughter, she was worried that the speculations might have put Mo’s marriage in danger.

“Mo and I were just giggling during all of that because we are close friends. However, I was concerned that it would begin to impact my friend’s size 8,” she continued.

Makena has never revealed her daughter’s father’s identity in public, but there have long been rumours that he is related to colourful politician Steve Mbogo.

Pierra’s Daughter Lands TV Role

Another noteworthy event is the recent televised debut of Makena’s 9-year-old daughter. Her mother was ecstatic to learn that she co-hosts the Saturday Morning Show on Akili TV.

The young star is still dedicated to her studies despite her TV job. Makena stated that in order to maintain school as a top priority, they have devised a balanced schedule.

Birthday Surprise and Family Talk In 2024, Makena went above and beyond for her daughter’s birthday by giving her an inflatable pool, a gift Ricca had long desired. The heartfelt response was widely shared, demonstrating the unique bond between mother and daughter. In addition to the family conversations, Ricca recently asked her mother for siblings, and in an open moment, she disclosed that her father, whom she loves, gave her KSh 50,000, money she said is safely kept in the bank. Makena laughed at the request for siblings but said that’s a topic for another day.

“She wants to know more about my family and is enquiring about how I became pregnant,” Makena said.
