Kenyan songsmith Bien-Aimé Baraza has stunned East African music fans by generously turning down an incredible Sh260 million payday.
He opted instead to perform free of charge at Tanzanian rapper Darassa’s long-anticipated album launch.
The event marked the launch of Darassa’s introspective album Take Away the Pain.
Bien revealed that his close friend Darassa had offered him two million US dollars, equivalent to Sh260 021 486.
He recalled answering the call with a smile and insisting that brotherhood mattered more than money.
“I would not take a cent,” he said, “because he is my blood brother.”
The pair have collaborated on two hit songs, including the fan-favourite Nobody.
When Bien arrived in Dar es Salaam, a sea of flashing cameras greeted him at the airport.
Darassa beamed with excitement as he welcomed his longtime friend to Tanzania.
