April 23, 2025: President William Ruto was visibly touched by the warm compliments he received from Kenyans living in China during his official visit, describing the praise as a rare but heartfelt gesture.
Speaking during a meeting with the Kenyan diaspora in Beijing, Ruto expressed gratitude for the warm reception and encouraging words shared by those in attendance.
“It’s rare for Kenyans to give compliments, so when I hear them, I take them seriously,” he said, drawing laughter and applause from the crowd.
The President noted that such support from Kenyans abroad motivates him and his government to continue pushing for growth, opportunities, and progress both at home and internationally.
Ruto is in China to strengthen bilateral ties, pursue new trade and investment deals, and attend key diplomatic forums, including the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
While in Beijing, he also held talks with Chinese leaders focused on infrastructure, technology, and education partnerships.
The Kenyan community in China praised Ruto for recognizing their efforts and for including the diaspora in national development conversations.
The visit highlighted the importance of unity and national pride among Kenyans, regardless of where they are in the world.
