As men grow older, the risk of prostate enlargement, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), increases significantly. However, there are proactive steps men can take to reduce this risk and promote better prostate health.

First, maintaining a healthy diet plays a vital role. Men should focus on eating foods rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals—especially those found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Foods like tomatoes, which contain lycopene, and fatty fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids, are especially good for prostate health. Reducing the intake of red meat, processed foods, and high-fat dairy can also make a difference.

Regular exercise is equally important. Physical activity helps manage weight, improve blood circulation, and balance hormones, all of which contribute to a healthier prostate. Just 30 minutes of moderate exercise like walking, cycling, or swimming most days of the week can have long-term benefits.

Staying hydrated and managing stress are also key. Chronic stress can cause hormonal imbalances that may contribute to prostate issues. Avoiding smoking and limiting alcohol intake further lowers risk. Lastly, regular check-ups with a doctor are crucial—early detection of any prostate changes can lead to better outcomes.
