Nine individuals have been detained following a violent midnight raid on a home in Maweni, Kilifi County.

The suspects, all young men armed with machetes and other weapons, stormed the house in what local authorities have described as a retaliatory attack.

The motive behind the attack is said to be linked to an earlier assault on one of their members by a rival group. The rival group’s member had been acting as a night guard at the targeted home.

Kilifi South Police Commander, Hassan Kochali, confirmed the incident and provided details to NTV.

According to Kochali, the suspects were caught on CCTV cameras entering the house.

However, they fled before law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.

Despite the violence, the owner of the home, Ali Mossina, reported that nothing had been stolen from the property.

He promptly contacted the authorities, and a search for the suspects began immediately.

Police have warned the public against taking matters into their own hands and emphasized that justice will be served through legal channels. The suspects, once identified, will face legal action and be brought before the courts.

There were initial claims that the suspects were affiliated with the notorious “Panga Boys” gang, but the police have refuted these rumors.

They have clarified that the incident was an isolated act of violence involving rowdy youths who were causing disturbances in the area.

Authorities also mentioned that the individuals involved are well-known to the local police.

The Kilifi South police have made it clear that they are committed to investigating the matter thoroughly and ensuring that all those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

Currently, the nine suspects remain in police custody while investigations continue.
