One year after the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of General Francis Ogolla, questions still linger over the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Despite investigations, no clear answers have been provided on what caused the military aircraft to go down.

General Ogolla, who was the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), died alongside several senior military officers when their Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter crashed in Elgeyo Marakwet on April 18, 2024.

The crash sent shockwaves across the country, with both government officials and the public demanding a full investigation.

Initial reports suggested possible mechanical failure, while others speculated about sabotage.

The Kenya Air Force and other investigative agencies launched probes, but a conclusive report has yet to be made public.

The lack of transparency has fueled suspicions, with some politicians and security analysts calling for an independent inquiry.

Family members and close allies of the late General continue to push for answers, arguing that the delay in releasing findings only raises more doubts. “We need to know the truth. What exactly happened to General Ogolla’s plane?” a relative questioned.

The government has remained tight-lipped, only stating that investigations are ongoing. Defence officials insist that air crash investigations take time, but critics argue that similar cases in other countries have been resolved much faster.

Meanwhile, security experts warn that failure to provide a clear explanation could damage public trust in the military’s handling of such incidents.

“If there was foul play, the nation deserves to know. If it was an accident, transparency is key in avoiding future tragedies,” said a retired military officer.
