A Uasin Gishu man, Francis Samoei, has shared a heartfelt letter he received from President William Ruto back in 1983 when they were classmates at Wareng High School. The letter, penned by Ruto, addressed Francis as “Namesake,” a term they used to refer to each other, reflecting their shared connection.

Samoei, who has kept the note for over 40 years, fondly recalls the time they spent together in school and the aspirations they shared. The letter is a symbol of their early friendship and Ruto’s determination even as a young man.

Despite several efforts to reconnect with his former classmate, including outreach through public figures like Kipchumba Murkomen, Samoei has not yet met with the president. However, he remains hopeful and optimistic about a reunion. He expressed his desire to personally congratulate Ruto on his remarkable journey from a schoolmate to the President of Kenya.

The letter continues to hold significant emotional value for Samoei, marking a touching reminder of their shared past and the enduring bond between them.
