Wajir Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Ahmed Tolfiyow has disclosed chilling details of his abduction after going missing for six months. The MCA, who disappeared on September 13, 2024, was found alive and has revealed that he was held in isolation alongside other missing individuals, including the Kitengela three.

A close family member speaking to Nation confirmed that Yussuf was detained in a secret location where he endured mental and physical torment. “He told us he could hear screams from the next room, especially from Bob Njagi, one of the Kitengela three. He was in a separate cell, but the walls were thin enough for him to make out voices,” the family member disclosed.

According to Yussuf, his captors kept him in Nairobi for about two months before transferring him to an undisclosed location. The conditions were dire, and communication with the outside world was completely cut off. After six months, he was unexpectedly released.

“They took me to Pangani shopping center at around 9:30 p.m. and gave me Ksh 5,000. One of them told me, ‘Walk straight, don’t turn back, or you’ll be dead before you take another step,’” Yussuf reportedly told his relatives.

The MCA managed to reach his home in Eastleigh by 11:00 p.m., where he was received by his relieved family.

Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi was among the first leaders to react to the news of Yussuf’s return. “The last six months have been agonizing for his family and the people of Wajir. Seeing him reunited with his loved ones is a moment of great relief,” he stated.

Eldas MP Adan Keynan condemned the abduction, demanding immediate investigations. “This is not just about one leader; it speaks to a larger issue of enforced disappearances that must be addressed urgently,” Keynan remarked.

Speaking on the JKL Show on February 10, 2025, activist Bob Njagi confirmed that Yussuf was held in the same location as the Kitengela three. “At one point, I managed to peek through a small opening, and I saw him. We were locked up in separate rooms, but I knew he was there,” Njagi stated.

Investigations into the abduction remain unclear, but pressure is mounting on authorities to uncover those responsible. The circumstances surrounding Yussuf’s disappearance and sudden release have raised questions that remain unanswered.
