Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga faced an uncharacteristic reception in Kisii County, a region traditionally considered his stronghold. During an event at Gusii Stadium, attendees expressed their dissatisfaction by heckling Odinga, signaling discontent with his recent political maneuvers. The unrest stems from Odinga’s recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with President William Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.

Many Kenyans perceive this alliance as a betrayal, especially given the current administration’s perceived shortcomings in fulfilling campaign promises, which have left a significant portion of the population grappling with economic hardships. This sentiment was echoed by Hon. Peter Orero during an appearance on K24 TV News Kenya. Orero commended the residents of Kisii County for their candidness, suggesting that their reaction provided Odinga with a genuine reflection of public sentiment. He further cautioned that Odinga’s alignment with the current administration might entangle him in challenges not of his own making, potentially alienating his support base.
