The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) youth representatives have sent a strong warning to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of trying to sabotage the looming political deal between Raila Odinga and President William Ruto.

Speaking on Thursday, March 6, the youths claimed that Uhuru was allegedly pressuring Raila to reject a possible coalition with Ruto’s administration. They accused the former Head of State of pretending to support Raila in the past while secretly failing to back his presidential ambitions during the 2022 elections.”We have seen Uhuru Kenyatta putting too much pressure on Raila to oppose the government. He had his chance to support him, but he refused. Now, we are telling him to leave Raila alone,” one of the youths remarked.

The group further dismissed any possibility of Raila working with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. According to them, Gachagua was only trying to manipulate Raila by promising him votes from the Mt Kenya region.”We don’t trust Gachagua’s intentions. He only wants to use Raila for his selfish agenda. We are urging Baba to work with Ruto instead of falling into Gachagua’s trap,” they added.

Their remarks come a day after Raila rejected Gachagua’s invitation to join the opposition, insisting that he could never partner with someone who once wished for his downfall. The ODM youths also called for the quick implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report to solve the country’s political issuesWith the 2027 elections approaching, pressure is mounting on Raila to choose which side to support as political alliances continue to take shape.
