Rachel, the eldest of Wafula Chebukati’s three children, shared her deep bond with her father during his funeral. She recounted that after his surgery, despite his condition, he was more concerned about her well-being, asking, “How was your presentation?” This reflected his selfless nature, always prioritizing his family’s lives even during his illness.
In February, Rachel traveled to Addis Ababa for a fellowship. Just a day after her departure, she received a call from her mother, informing her that her father had been taken to the ICU and had passed away. Reflecting on this timing, Rachel wondered if her absence allowed him to find peace. She expressed her sorrow that he wouldn’t meet his future grandchildren but vowed to ensure they know about his legacy.
Wafula Chebukati will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 8, at his Sabatia home in Kitale. He passed away due to cardiac arrest.
Family and senior political leaders from Trans Nzoia county have warned political leaders not to cause mayhem during the burial ceremony.
