Betty Malulu, the widow of Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi, has shared heartfelt details about her husband’s final days. Speaking at his burial in Lukusi Village on Tuesday, 4 March 2025, she revealed that the late MP was in high spirits and recovering well before his sudden passing.

Malulu initially dismissed concerns about his health, brushing off fatigue as mere tiredness. “He wasn’t one to frequent hospitals,” Betty recalled. “When he finally went, doctors diagnosed him with fatigue and advised rest.” Despite her pleas, the MP insisted on attending a crucial event in Malava, determined to fulfil his duties.

Days later, his condition worsened, prompting a visit to Nairobi Hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with malaria, a bacterial infection, and other ailments. Remarkably, Malulu showed significant improvement, with medical staff calling his recovery “miraculous.” However, just three days later, he tragically passed away.

Their son, Rhyan Injendi, paid tribute to his father, describing him as a selfless leader who prioritised his constituents’ needs. Known for his boldness, Malulu was a vocal advocate, even challenging the church over its rejection of President William Ruto’s donations in November 2024.

The MP’s death follows months of speculation about his health, with Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa dispelling rumours of his demise in January. Malulu’s legacy as a dedicated and outspoken leader remains etched in the hearts of many.

As the nation mourns, Betty’s revelations offer a poignant glimpse into the resilience and determination of a man who served until his final moments.
