A remarkable display of unity among Kenyans on Thursday morning led to the swift recovery of a stolen Toyota Prado, just moments after it was stolen in Thika.

The vehicle, which had been stolen and tracked to Limuru, was recovered in record time thanks to a collective effort initiated on social media.

The popular road safety platform, Sikika Road Safety, took to Facebook to alert Kenyans about the theft, urging them to help locate the vehicle registration number KDD 515Q.

“Let us just unite Kenyans and our followers. This Prado has just been stolen in Thika, and the tracker is showing it is currently in Limuru. A share can help. If you see it, reach us on 0707861787 so we can secure it,” Sikika posted.

 

The call for help quickly gained traction, and within just 40 minutes, Sikika provided a crucial update, confirming that the vehicle had been spotted.

“BREAKING NEWS. The vehicle has just been spotted at Limuru kwa soko ya mbuzi. Watu wa Limuru, kindly go to the soko ya mbuzi and secure the vehicle before we arrive. Kindly help us tag the National Police Service and Directorate of Criminal Investigations – DCI so they can respond,” Sikika posted.

 

Following the rapid dissemination of information and prompt action by concerned citizens, police successfully secured the stolen Prado. This incident showed the power of social media in mobilizing communities and fostering cooperation between citizens and law enforcement.

 

Many Kenyans praised the collaborative effort, depicting the importance of unity in tackling crime. Police have since taken over investigations to apprehend those responsible for the theft.
